MP inspects motorway works
23rd November 2011
MP for South West Hertfordshire, David Gauke, joined representatives of Connect Plus on 18 November for an inspection of the completed motorway works between Junctions 16 and 18 of the M25. David arranged the trip following concerns raised by constituents that the widening of the M25 had resulted in an untidy and, at places, uneven result. Connect Plus are the consortium responsible for the M25 widening.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to join Connect Plus to inspect the motorway,” commented David. “I can understand why Connect Plus did not re-lay every lane as part of the widening but there are parts of the motorway which look patchy. Some of the white lines that existed marking out the old lanes are now visible and, in a few places, work is necessary to ensure that the motorway is safe. Where joints between old and new lanes become too uneven, it is important that this is dealt with. However, I am pleased that Connect Plus have already taken action to make various improvements and will continue to monitor the motorway closely.”
